The French Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a master at capturing the beauty of life in his distinct, emotive style. He was influenced by the works of his forebears, including Camille Pissarro and Édouard Manet, and even though the Salon juries had rejected his submissions, he found acceptance among his contemporaries when he collaborated with Monet, Sisley, Pissarro, and other trailblazers to present the first Impressionist exhibition in April 1874.
