Interior of a Harem in Montmartre, commonly known as Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Parisian Ladies in Algerian Costume, is a classic painting that will add a touch of class to any room. This masterwork, which was finished in 1872 and pays homage to Eugène Delacroix’s painting Ladies of Algiers in their Apartment, was turned down for admission to the 1872 Paris Salon. The French Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a master at capturing the beauty of life in his distinct, emotive style. He was influenced by the works of his forebears, including Camille Pissarro and Édouard Manet, and even though the Salon juries had rejected his submissions, he found acceptance among his contemporaries when he collaborated with Monet, Sisley, Pissarro, and other trailblazers to present the first Impressionist exhibition in April 1874.
