Claude Monet’s 1891 Haystack in the Morning, Snow Effect reissued as a modern composition – a single ochre haystack rising from a lilac-and-cream snowfield, set above a clean caption block. An impressionist art print with breathing room: minimal layout, original 1891 palette.

Artwork Description

Monet painted twenty-five canvases of the grainstacks beside his Giverny garden between summer 1890 and spring 1891, watching the same conical pile of straw read warm pink at dawn, brick red at noon, mauve at sunset and frozen lilac under snow. Durand-Ruel showed fifteen of them together in May 1891 and sold every one within days; it was the first proper exhibition of Monet as a serial painter and changed how the market thought about him.

This composition lifts the morning, snow-effect version off its original frame and floats it on a clean cream ground with a caption strip – the haystack itself painted in ochre and rose, the snow worked in violet, pearl and the palest mint, the trees behind reduced to lavender dabs. Claude Monet (1840-1926) is the founding figure of French Impressionism. The original canvas is in a private collection; multiple versions live at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musee d’Orsay and the Hill-Stead Museum.

This Monet inspired wall art is an easy fit for Perth and Fremantle interiors painted in chalk, oat, dove or lavender and pairs cleanly with linen sofas, oak floors, rattan and brushed brass. The pale violet-and-cream palette responds to a single rust cushion, mustard throw or terracotta vase; it works in a calm dining room, a study or a still bedroom.

Choose stretched canvas, white floating frame, slim black framed print or archival lustre paper. Each impressionist art reproduction is hand-finished in our Perth workshop and shipped Australia-wide on rigid backing.
